I have come to a realisation that, Christmas gifts are necessary evil. Please don't get me wrong, Christmas is as holy and joyful as it can be in my opinion, the evilness comes from the materialism and consumerism. However, 'gifting' is a ritual that brings both the sender and receiver joy, and it is part of the holidays that cannot be omitted (hence - the 'necessity'). As we grow up, we get less excited with gifts indeed - 'coz we can afford more things we want - but still, who isn't happy when we get some surprises and love wrapped in pretty decorative paper?
人人都喜歡收禮物(大膽假設)。問題是,物件本身的價值,跟它帶著的意義沒有直接關係--而通常人們把焦點都放在$$而不是心意上。。。(離題中)。。。
個人認為節日(尤其是聖誕節)並不是送禮物節,但「送」跟「收」禮物確實是節日難以避免的一部分--試想像:一個沒有糖果/紅封包/曲奇禮盒的農曆年(出外旅遊「避年」的不算);無論如何,這篇如題,講講「我的聖誕禮物」。。。
