[Food] Amigo, 3 years anniversary dinner

二月二十七日,林少跟我的第三年。
27th February 2012, my third year with C.


說到底都是找一間平日不是太捨得/硬要留到一個特別日子才去的餐廳吃飯。那Amigo在情侶中的地位可說是超然吧,根本就是求婚或紀念日的聖地!我個人是不太想去的,皆因那個Amigo魔咒好像很靈呢…(註:有說情侶到了Amigo後一是會結婚或是一是要分手…)林少就罵我無知然後就自顧自的訂位去了。(根本他就是聽了朋友說好吃就一直說要吃!!)

There is a list of restaurants which we classified as 'those-restaurants-we-would-go-on-a-special-day', and of course the legendary Amigo Restaurant in Happy Valley is one of them. C has always been saying we should go but i secretly believe in the infamous curse-of-amigo, i.e. after a couple has gone to Amigo, they would either 1) get married or 2)break up. When I told c this he dissed me off and went ahead and booked the restaurant.....which simply because he heard from his bros how good the food is...




地點當然就是跑馬地。當晚有些少雨,一進門口,親切的侍應便幫我們放好傘及大衣,給了我們一個小牌子以作識別後便帶我們上二樓。我們給安排坐在大廳的絲絨梳化椅,二人坐剛剛好!桌上已經放有寫上林少姓名的小名片,還是燙金的呢,另外還有兩本小小的記事本,都給我賊了嘻嘻。牆上的油畫並沒有顯得作狀,加上精緻的銀餐具,Amigo果真是浪漫餐廳的表表者。

The service was attentive: it was raining that night and once we entered the restaurant, they helped us to place the umbrella and our coats in the cloak room before showing us the way up to the main dining room. We were seated at the end of the main room where the red velvet sofa seats were placed: these were perfect for couple as we could sit together while still have enough rooms for eating. better then sitting at either ends of a table i think! There were those famous name cards placed on the plates already, along with two small note pads- very classy indeed. The restaurant really fits the name as one of the most romantic dining venues in HK: unpretentious paintings hung on the wall and elegant silver tableware, soo romantic.



我們都點了晚餐套餐,我當時剛病癒,就沒有太貪心地選了三道菜;林少則要了四道。首先來的是玫瑰形的牛油配暖暖的小法包:我是麵包狂,法包更是我的最愛,所以不像網上其他食評,我就覺得很好吃啦。

We both chose the set dinners but I chose 3 courses while C chose 4. First came was the little boule served with the rose-shaped butter. I love bread so this is good enough for me.





頭盤:我要了煙三文魚,而林少要了煎鵝肝。我其實是不太愛煙三文的,有很個人啦,但我是不吃鵝肝的所以有一定要選三文。怎知這配上不同配料的三文很好吃!我選了Caper(不知中文是甚麼)、蛋和洋蔥。薄薄的沒有很膩的感覺,加上我喜歡的咸咸的caper,就是一道很美好很開胃的頭盤了。林少則默默的把他的鵝肝吃光光,那就代表很OK啦!

Starters: I chose Scottish smoked salmon and C ordered Foie Gras. Actually I don't like salmon much but I do not eat foie gras so this was the choice I had to make. However this turned out to be a good smoked salmon dish- they gave me some sides to go with the thinly sliced smoked salmon, and I picked capers (which I adore), scramble egg white and chopped onion. SO GOOD! C just quietly finished his foie gras and he said it was good.



湯:林少額外的一道菜就是他千呼萬喚的周打湯。鮮甜得不得了,堂弄的也為這湯加添了點效果。

Soup: this is the extra course C ordered- prawn chowder. Every mouthful was the sweetness of the prawn. And of course, any dish that was partly prepared in front of your table would be quite impressive anyway.



主菜來前先用西柚雪芭清清味蕾。

We were served a little scoop of grapefruit sorbet before the main courses.


主菜:我點了牛柳配帶子,五成熟。不得了,牛味很重,肉質非常嫩滑,份量也是十足的。配上甜美的帶子,和那不過咸的醬汁,超級美味。還配上一小塊絕頂美味的potato tarte tatin,也就是我形容的馬鈴薯層層疊了。這好比我跟J在巴黎吃過的Potato Tarte Tatin,銷魂呢!小小的一塊剛好滿足口舌之慾,又不會過肥,真好。我一開始還說我一定吃不完,但最後都是把它慢慢的吃光光。林少則要了大蝦配上龍蝦汁,也都是很鮮甜和彈牙,嘴勺的他也讚不絕口。

Main Course: Mine was fillet steak with scallop, medium cooked. It was so tender and the sauce, which was not overly salty as many other restaurants do it, was a great compliment to the dish. Not to forget was the giant scallop: slightly grilled so it was crispy outside and soft inside. sweet dish I must say. Along with the fillet was 3 sides: potato tarte tatin, cabbage and something that I forgot (sorry). The potato was sooooo nice, just like the potato J and I had at the escargot restaurant in Paris. C followed his tradition and ordered a seafood dish: prawns served with lobster sauce. also a very very good dish as high praised by the picky bf.

甜品:我一早就鎖定了橙酒疏芙厘:輕如無物,橙酒味亦不是過濃,好吃!林少要了酥皮焗雪糕,我一點也沒吃到…………

Dessert: I set my eyes on the souffle long ago and it did not disappointed (yet I still found peninsula does the best souffle, may write about it later..) C's baked pastry with ice-cream- I did not even get to try a bite..................



因為告訴了餐廳我們是慶祝紀念日,他們就送了一個小小的拿破崙蛋糕。原來是不同慶祝活動,侍應們就會用不同的裝飾物將蛋糕送出:生日是壽星公,紀念日或求婚則是一對陶瓷公仔,超用心的。蛋糕好吃!但我們都吃不下,我就帶了回家給爸媽吃(媽媽罵我只給她吃left over,不帶她去吃好吃的。)

As we told them we came here to celebrate our anniversary, they gave us a small Napoleon as a gesture. Living up to its fame, the napoleon was very nice: not overly sweet or overly creamy. We couldn't finish it after such a big meal so I brought the left-over home for my parents and they loved it too!


最後是可愛的巧克力雪糕棒棒。我只吃了一支,要不是林少阻止我,我一定將它清掉!

Last but not least, the chocolate bon bon! I only had one yet I actually wanted more...but C stopped me because of my weak stomach back then =( 


總括來說這餐就十分美好。美味的料理、貼心的服務、沒有過份造作的餐廳裝飾、美好的男友,everything was perfect!但其實一家人來用餐也很適合,不一定要是情侶呢。

Overall, delicious food, great service, nice decoration, lovely boyfriend, EVERYTHING WAS PERFECT! Yet this is not a restaurant limited for couples, very good venue for family event too!

*其實送蛋糕時應該會有樂師來到我們桌前唱歌的。但當我們用頭盤時,鄰桌便響起歌聲,我望了望林少,然後問:「你不想有人給咱們唱歌的話,便去告訴侍應待會兒不用過來唱歌」他就馬上去做!!因為這位先生是非常討厭在公開場合引人注目,很奇怪。我沒所謂喇,反正又不是求婚,我目的都是吃而已。
Actually normally the singers in house would come to your table and sing to you along with the napoleon. While we were having out appetizers, the singers were singing to the table next to us. I immediately told C if he did not want them to sing to us, he better tell the waiters asap. and the next second he went to tell the waiter already.....this is because this boy hates the so-called public attention so much. weirdo. well I don't really mind as this was not a proposal anyway HAHAHHA. I was here to eat hehe.

*Amigo魔咒到現在也沒對現在我身上(摸摸木),我不想那麼快結婚也不想分手呢。
The curse of amigo has not happened yet (touchwood), I don't want to get married nor break up yet!
